Hi! I have hand-coded this About page you’re reading, thanks to Code Academy
What Do I Do?
Short answer: I write stuff. A lot.
More complete answer and educational background: Through an academic scholarship, I completed an Associate of Business degree from the College of Southern Nevada in 2012. I began college in earnest at the age of 27 because it wasn’t the right fit directly out of high school. I’m taking courses part-time towards my degree while working. I originally intended to earn a degree in information systems, but unfortunately that program fell under the axe of budget cuts. After some trial-and-error, I’m now working on a BSBA in marketing at UNLV’s Lee Business School.
For the past five years, I’ve worked out of a home office as a ghostwriter for various businesses’ websites. I either write directly for private clients or find available writing jobs posted on sites called content brokerages. Frequent work assignment topics I cover on a regular basis include:
- Social media promotion
- Blog writing
- Trade show exhibits
- Professional printing
I have professional knowledge of Associated Press standards and revision markup. I proofread my work for correct spelling and grammar on a daily basis. I’ve written my own AP grammar guide, the link to which you’ll find in the right side panel. I intend at some point to turn the “My Book” panel title from singular to plural.
Relevant Skill Sets
I understand and apply search engine optimization in my work assignments. I can code HTML, set up WordPress sites, create invoices, write promotional copy with calls-to-action, and write informational copy about products and services.
As you’ll see from my pieces published in this blog, I have a definite interest in technology topics. Other favorite article subjects include book, music and movie reviews, news items and lifestyle posts. I have an array of different interests, and my writing topics reflect that.
About This Portfolio
This blog serves as my online equivalent of the Starship Enterprise bridge. It’s the control panel for my professional clips, interests, opinions, reviews, occasional rants, and other relevant bits about me that may not fit into just one of the previous categories. All of the posts and web pages are my original work, and I welcome constructive feedback at any time.
If you’re looking for a freelance writer for your website and my writing is a good fit, please don’t hesitate to contact me with the details of your project via email under the “Contact Me” panel on the right side of this page. I’ll get back to you with a price quote as soon as possible, and I look forward to working with you!
Since I write plenty of reviews here, I’ve included a handy Amazon link on each of those posts in case you’d like to try the item yourself. I get a small cut of the price if you opt to make any purchases through any of my Amazon links, and any proceeds go right to paying my monthly hosting fee. Of course you’re under no obligation to do so, but if it sounds cool and you’d like to read it, watch it or otherwise get it, the option is there.
